PHILADELPHIA -

A crew for the Philadelphia Water Department found a graveyard under a school playground in North Philadelphia.

They were doing excavation work behind the William Dick Elementary School, when they dug up coffins and gravestones.

The Historical Society has been called to figure out how old the graves are.

According to findagrave.com, The area used to be the "odd fellows cemetery."

It was established in 1849. The city bought the land in 1951 and moved the graves.

The school says it will be open today.
