Businesses of all types getting in on black Friday deals

Posted: Updated:

A hot yoga class may be the last place you'd expect hot Black Friday deals. But businesses of all stripes got in on the deals

Small business owner Luke Strandquist said “Initially you just think of a big box store but more small businesses are branching out so why not offer something to get them in the door?"

Bikram Yoga NYC offered discount yearly passes at Bikramyoganyc.com

It’s not just big box stores, everyone wanted a piece of the estimated $60 billion being spent this weekend.

A carwash offered a free exterior cleaning.

And how is this for an oddball Black Friday offer?

Dr. Katayoun Yaraghi-Josephs, owner of Cascada Dental spa said he wanted to offer his patients and prospective patients something to make them feel better about themselves look better for the holidays.

So his business is now offering to get you're teeth-whitened plus a full beauty makeover at bargain prices.

There are also free adoptions. In the cutest black Friday deal around, North Shore Animal Rescue waived the adoption fees for these furry friends

“We have puppies, kittens,” said Christina Travalja, the animals shelter’s Director. “Everyone is doing Black Friday shopping but after that you can save a life.”

And if all these deals are overwhelming, just do some bikram yoga. It’s a great deal.

Mayor Bill de Blasio is pulling back the reins on his plans to quickly get rid of New York City's horse-drawn carriage industry, stung by a recent outpouring of support for the colorful coaches that have clip-clopped their way through Central Park for more than 150 years. A campaign pledge to take on the horses during his first week as mayor was eclipsed by other issues.

A NYPD plan intended to better connect with the community seems to have backfired a bit. The police department asked its twitter followers to share pictures of themselves with New York City police officers using the hashtag "myNYPD." Some did share nice pictures, but others not so much. Some of the first pictures posted showed regular citizens standing with very friendly looking police officers.
