NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Officials say more than a dozen people have been injured in a collision between a police cruiser and a bus in New Haven.

Police say the cruiser was responding to a call at the train station just before 11 a.m. Monday when it collided with the bus near New Haven Green.

The officer, Victor Herrera, was taken to the hospital where he was reported to be in fair condition.

Mayor John DeStefano Jr. said 26 people were on the CT Transit bus, and 12 have been transported to hospitals, while 10 are waiting and four have refused transport. Their conditions were not immediately clear.

The bus's windshield was cracked by a lamp post.

The crash remains under investigation.
