AURORA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

An Aurora woman reported that someone pretending to be an electrician entered her home on Thursday afternoon and allegedly stole her wedding band, the Beacon News is reporting.

The victim, who lives in the 600 block of North Lancaster Avenue, said a Hispanic male knocked on her door between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, and identified himself as an electrician. Police said the man began asking the woman whether she had noticed her lights flickering.

The victim told police the man made his way into her home, while asking questions and "being confusing."

She said the suspect went from room to room in her home, turning on and off the lights. He left without saying a word, police said.

Police reports show that the man, who was described as more than 6 feet tall with short brown hair, and dark "work type" clothes, was talking in Spanish on a two-way radio while he was in the home. He had no identification badge or name on his uniform.

He left in a newer, silver Dodge Caravan.

After he left her home, the woman noticed her wedding band, worth $5,000, was missing from the living room table where it had been sitting with several other pieces of jewelry, police said.
