Son rescues mother from burning mobile home

SURPRISE, Ariz. -

Fire breaks out in a home in Surprise and the woman living there didn't want to leave the home without her life savings and her dog.

She survived, thanks to her son, but the money burned and they haven't found the dog yet.

"She called me and said my house is on fire, I live around the corner and I flew over here, my mom was screaming.. smoke was coming out of her window and I was yelling for her to come out.. she wouldn't come out without her dog, so I pulled her out," said Jason Beam.

According to firefighters, about a half dozen fire trucks drove up to this fire.  If you took a look at this house, it was completely engulfed in flames and crews say they saw flames coming out of every door and every window.

"Fully involved house.. there was fire coming out from all areas of the house, front door, windows everything, the windows had blown out.. pretty slim chance that if there was someone inside they were going to survive," said Battalion Chief Dan Gromer of the Surprise Fire Department.

"I'm sorry I had to make a decision.. it was my dog or my mom," said Beam.

Beam rescued his mother and she'll survive.  Now they're searching for Diggity, his mother's dog.  They're hoping he either ran away or someone has him.

All of the woman's financial savings were in the home and they burned along with most everything else.

If you'd like to help the Beam family, please contact the Surprise Fire Department at  (623) 222-5000 or the Sun City Fire Department at (623) 974-2321.
