Man Kills Girlfriend, Commits Suicide

Posted: Updated:

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred last night in North Amityville, Long Island.

First Precinct police officers responded to 3 North Drive following a 911 call reporting that a man was stabbing a woman at that address. When police arrived, they discovered Virginia Vasquez, 32, and her boyfriend Stephen Guillaume, 35, dead in the doorway of their home.

Vasquez’s 14-year-old daughter was cut on the hand when she attempted to help her mother. She was taken to an area hospital where she will undergo surgery on her hand. Vasquez’s 4-year-old son, who was also in the home at the time, was unharmed.

Detectives learned that Guillaume began stabbing Vasquez after she told Guillaume that they were breaking up.

The investigation is continuing.

A Long Island family is upset that a cruise line won't accommodate them after their 5-year-old son had to have emergency surgery for cancer. Nicolas Colucci and the rest of his family was supposed to go on a cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway. They did not buy travel insurance, so Norwegian says they cannot rebook the cruise so close to departure. The CEO of a rival cruise line saw their story and reached out to the Colucci family to offer them a free cruise.
