MESA, Ariz. -
A valley home builder comes to the rescue for a homeless women's shelter in Mesa and the people living there are very grateful.
Dozens of cans of paint cover the parking lot of an old apartment complex.
"Hopefully, we get this whole place painted.. these two buildings and looking sharp again for the people here," said Doug Halloway, Taylor Morrison's Vice President.
Taylor Morrison builds homes, but they also like to give back to the community. That's why they are painting the shelter for Save the Family.
"It's absolutely amazing. I am just awestruck by the people who have taken the time to do this for us," said Renee Langs.
Langs says it's great for the apartment complex and the entire neighborhood.
About 100 people from Taylor Morrison were at the complex on Friday. They're home builders, but many of the guys and gals work in offices. They've never painted before, but they got used to it and improved.
Everywhere you look, they were painting the walls, and the stairways.
"I could be working today, so this is another alternative. It feels good to give back to the community," said Elaine Morelock.
Considering they are not professional painters, they're doing a great job.
Save the Family is a non-profit organization that helps homeless women and children due to domestic violence.
