#ThrowbackThursday: Tim McCarver vs. Deion Sanders

On Wednesday night, FOX Sports broadcaster Tim McCarver wrapped up his announcing career by calling the Red Sox game six win and World Series championship.  While McCarver has been a huge part of the biggest moments in postseason baseball over the past two decades, Atlantans will remember him for one incident.

The same night that Sid slid and sent the Braves to the 1992 World Series, Deion Sanders made news for the wrong reasons.  During the post-game celebration in the locker room, "Primetime" made it a point to seek out two reporters, McCarver and Terence Moore, so he could soak them with water.  He succeeded, getting McCarver a handful of times, and prompting the infamous response from the veteran broadcaster, "You're a real man, Deion."

Sanders was angry because McCarver had criticized him for playing in a Falcons game Sunday afternoon prior to a Braves night playoff game on the same day.

Going through our archives, I quickly found that WAGA had the best video of the entire incident.  The piece that I chose was a Doug Richards package from a couple of days after "splash-gate".  Deion wasn't talking, McCarver wasn't really either, but we get a great recap of the night's events, as well as how the team was trying to put the whole thing behind them.

Our weekly Team of the Week pep rallies are now a staple of High 5 Sports, but they certainly are nothing new to WAGA.  This week's video is a Channel 5 pep rally from December 1982.

Talk radio has blown up this week with criticism of Fredi Gonzalez for not bringing in Craig Kimbrel at the beginning of the 8th inning in game four against the Dodgers.
