Soggy weather delays trick-or-treating in some towns, others persist on

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

It's a rainy Halloween this year, but despite the spooky, soggy weather, trick-or-treating was in full swing around Chicago.

Trick-or-treaters rushed Hyde Park homes during a brief lull from the rain.

"It's a little rough out here," Shanara Watters says of the weather. "I wasn't going to do the whole trick-or -treating outside. I was going to go to the park but we just decided to come on out anyway, despite the rain."

Umbrellas and rain coats covered most of the creativity. Even so, the dreary surroundings didn't dampen the real mission this Halloween night.

"I'd say about 5:30 we started and then the rush came through between about 5:30 and 6:30 it's just been wonderful," Hyde Park resident James Herring said.

Some towns have opted to take a rain check and reschedule trick-or-treating to Friday night. Others refused to let the elements stop them.

"Absolutely not," one person said. "We live in Chicago, it's just what we do, we just get out in it... Bring a rain jacket and a camera, you'll be fine, you're all set."
