DETROIT (WJBK) -- Officials at Wayne St. University say a body discovered earlier today is that of a law school student missing since Monday night.

In an email to students and faculty, Lance Gable, interim associate dean at Wayne State University Law School, says police discovered the body of Tiane Brown Wednesday morning in a vacant lot near the shuttered Packard Plant in Detroit.

"Our sympathies go out to her family, including her three children and her parents, as well as all of the members of the Wayne Law family who knew Tiane," said Gable. "She was an exceptional and extremely active student at Wayne Law."

Brown was last seen Monday night leaving class on Wayne's campus just after 8 p.m.

Her parents reported Brown missing after she failed to pick up her three daughters at their home in West Bloomfield.

On Wednesday morning, an SUV matching the description of Brown's 2008 burgundy Chevy Trailblazer was discovered near Frontenac and E. Grand Blvd. She was found shot to death inside the vehicle.

Detroit police say her credit card was used at a gas station and, since then, two men were taken into Wednesday in Highland Park. The arrests were made on Wednesday; the suspects had Brown's cell phone. One of the suspects also told investigators where to find Brown's vehicle.

Fellow law students gathered outside the Wayne State Police Department Wednesday. Brown majored in biology; had a master's in biomedical engineering; a master's of business administration; and a job in patent law. She would have graduated next semester.

"I just told her last week how proud I was of her," says Sheryl Jones, Brown's mother.

"This is a tragedy, and we hope that you're viewers, your listeners, are angry because this should not have happened," declared Chief James Craig during a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

Police are not commenting on a motive at this time.
