NYPD: Fetus found in teen's bag at Victoria's Secret

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Detectives have arrested two teenagers after discovering the body of a fetus inside a bag they were carrying at a Victoria's Secret store in Midtown Manhattan, the NYPD said Thursday.

Security guards at the VS store on Broadway in Herald Square stopped two teenaged girls, both 17, when they were leaving the store because the guards suspected them of shoplifting, police said. The guards searched their bags, detected a strong odor, and found the fetus inside a bag belonging Tiana Rodriguez, of Brooklyn.

The store then called police to investigate.

Rodriguez told police she had a miscarriage the day before but didn't know what to do with the fetus, according to reports. Police do not believe she gave birth in the store.

The city's medical examiner was scheduled to perform on autopsy on the fetus and determine its age.

Police charged Rodriguez and Francis Estevez with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. More serious charges could be added.
