PHOENIX (AP) - Attorneys who won a racial-profiling lawsuit against the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office are asking a judge to order that the county pay them $7.3 million in fees.

A federal judge in Phoenix ruled in May that the sheriff's office and Sheriff Joe Arpaio singled out Latinos and that deputies unreasonably prolonged detentions.

The judge on Oct. 2 ordered the appointment of an independent monitor and a community advisory board to ensure compliance with constitutional requirements.

The $7.3 million is requested in a filing Wednesday by nine attorneys, including several each from the American Civil Liberties Union and the international law firm of Covington & Burling LLP.

The motion cites six years of litigation since the case was filed in 2007, including two years of pretrial fact-finding and a seven-day trial.
