Flames break out at former automotive building

Updated:
PHOENIX -

A first alarm fire broke out at a former automotive building late Thursday night. Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked it.

Flames engulfed the building, near I-17 and Bethany Home Road.

Fire crews responded to the scene just before midnight to find a fire raging at the building.

Although the building is vacant, firefighters say it's a regular place for homeless people to spend the night.

They checked and luckily no one was inside the building.

Fire crews were able to put out the fire pretty quickly after attacking the flames from different areas..

However, the building is badly damaged.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
