Man to stand trial for Grosse Pointe Park neighbor's death

Posted: Updated:
GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Myron T. Williams, 42, will stand trial for the death of Sabrina Gianino, 35. Prosecutors say Williams, who was a next-door neighbor to Gianino at the time, entered her home, robbed her and then killed her. Officials say the incident took place at approximately 11 p.m. on May 15, 2013.

Gianino's boyfriend recalls that night when he found her dead on the floor of their home on Wayburn in Grosse Pointe Park. Thursday he told the court there was a cord around her neck.

Nearly a dozen witnesses took the stand at the preliminary hearing.

One of those witnesses was Williams' wife, who says she was woken up late by her husband that night. When police showed up next door, at the house where Gianino was found dead, she says her husband was "sweaty" and had a panicked look on his face.

But perhaps the heaviest evidence laid out against Williams were the items stolen from Gianino: a laptop, iPod and cell phone. One witness told the court Williams showed up just hours after Gianino's death and traded those items for drugs.

The defense questioned the credibility of those witnesses, and say the evidence against Williams only supports the possession of that stolen property and not murder.

But, in the end, the judge bound Williams over for trial. Williams is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and unarmed robbery. He faces life in prison without parole. He is due back in Wayne County Circuit Court October 17, 2013.
