Pike Nurseries: Fall harvest door displays

Posted: Updated:

Want to give your front door a more festive look for fall?  We've got some great ideas on how you can deck out your door, thanks to the amazing team from Pike Nurseries.

The Fall Harvest Door Display
Fall is all about the leaves turning colors so we'll use a color palette of reds, oranges and golds

Wreath
Adding a seasonal wreath is a great way to capture the essence of the autumn season

  • Choose a wreath that matches your style
  • Hang the wreath with a simple 3M Command hook or for a more upscale display use a metal wreath hanger

Corn Shucks
Corn shucks are a very seasonal item

  • Corn shucks can be tricky to stand up straight so consider "planting" them in the back of a pot or using fishing line to prop them up
  • For the optimal look be sure to pull back the corn husk to expose the corn

Container Gardens
Container gardens are a great way to add color and height to the door way

  • You can keep containers and use a single plant like a mum or do a combination container garden with mums, ornamental peppers, pansies and more

Mums
Mums are the most traditional fall flower

  • Available in the colors of fall: burgundy, burnt orange and various gold tones
  • Use in a container garden at the front door
  • As blooms on mums fade, pinch off the dead blooms and continue to fertilize to add more blooms.

Pumpkins
Pumpkins come in just about any size

  1. Try to arrange pumpkins in odd numbers (3 or 5) to balance the design
  • Mix up the sizes and try adding a ghost pumpkin or heirloom pumpkin
  • All You Can Carry Pumpkins: $19.99
