Full service could be restored on Metro-North Railroad's New Haven line by Monday, the MTA announced. That would be 12 days after a power failure caused a major mess on the well-traveled commuter line.

"Full service to the MTA Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line will be restored Monday morning, assuming the new substation which received Con Edison power today is found reliable during our testing over the weekend," MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said in a statement.

Con Edison crews finished reconnecting and restoring power to a feeder line that was out of service due to upgrades.

"Metro North will be conducting further tests as part of full service restoration," Con Ed said in a statement.

The power outage has affected tens of thousands of commuters who have scrambled to deal with the problems by using severely reduced service on the line (mostly via diesel-powered trains), shuttle buses, and private vehicles.
