Elvia Delgado: What To Do About The Affordable Health Care Act

Posted: Updated:
Los Angeles, CA -

"In Southern California, there are millions of people who are now eligible for free or low cost health insurance and don't even know about."

Tuesday is the day the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) becomes a reality...and there are a lot of questions surrounding the application process. Elvia Delgado from AltaMed Health Services talked to Lisa Breckenridge about some of the big questions people have including cost, possible financial assistance for those who need help, and getting coverage if you are already sick.

"The wonderful thing about this is...regardless of whether you have a pre existing condition like diabetes, you cannot be denied coverage."

She admitted it's a complicated process to go through but added there are people out there to help.

"It's a lot of information and there's a lot of misinformation but we're here to help."

Elvia also gave information about Altamed's resource centers in Los Angeles and Orange County. People there not only answer questions, they will also help people apply for plans.

"We have certified enrollment counselors available to provide and help you navigate the online application."

In LA, the AltaMed Health Insurance Resource Center is located at 5436 E. Whittier Blvd, East Los Angeles.

In Orange County: 2720 Bristol St, Santa Ana.
