8-year-old boy killed by hit-and-run driver in Detroit

DETROIT (WJBK) -

Detroit Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed an 8-year-old boy. Detroit Police have tracked down a vehicle that matches the description of the one possibly connected with this fatal accident.

Police officers went to the home of the vehicle's owner and questioned the man inside the house. The man has not admitted to anything but appears to be cooperating with police.

Authorities have towed the man's vehicle, a late 1990's Ford Explorer with faded red paint and a beige stripe. The vehicle will be taken to evidence technicians who will see if the damage on the vehicle matches up with the damage on the little boy's bicycle.

The victim was riding his bike when he was struck by a vehicle at Abington Ave. and W. Chicago Rd. The child was dragged by the vehicle for about a block and his bike was dragged for about a mile, police say.
