A NYPD plan intended to better connect with the community seems to have backfired a bit. The police department asked its twitter followers to share pictures of themselves with New York City police officers using the hashtag "myNYPD." Some did share nice pictures, but others not so much. Some of the first pictures posted showed regular citizens standing with very friendly looking police officers.

PHOENIX -

It's a car that drove one Arizona man right into the record books. He has created a car unlike anything you've probably ever seen.

It may not be practical but it's possible. An Arizona man has created the world's smallest street legal car.

"It's got a continually variable transmission," says creator Austin Coulson.

This convertible is one of a kind.

"It's got a half a gallon fuel tank."

It's got all the features of a car.

"It gets about 85 mpg."

But this car can fit into the front seat of a smart car.

"It gets some looks!"

Austin Coulson designed and built the vehicle.

"It's 26 inches tall and it's a hair over 52 inches long."

It is certified as the smallest street legal car by Guinness Book of World Records.

"When it was finally street legal and they handed me the plates and I went out and put on these huge license plates on this comically small car and I was like, this is it, this is real, I can drive this thing on the street now!"

It took about 9 months to construct the car and another 9 months to jump through all the hurdles to make it street legal -- including making sure it has all the lights needed -- including high beams -- even a working horn.

"A lot of people wonder about parking spots for it. Parking spots? I just drive it in the front door."

Coulson says he may put the one-of-a-kind car up for auction or keep it for himself.

Now that he's made it into the record books, he's hoping he can keep his title as the world's smallest car builder.

"I'm really interested to see if anybody does even attempt it, and as of right now I'm looking at some of the other records and every time I go through the book and looking at them, [I think] maybe I can beat that one so we'll see."

The car can go upwards of 33 miles per hour. The man who held the previous title of smallest car builder was from the UK.
