Pope Francis, In Recent Interview, Wants To Emphasize Compassion

Posted: Updated:

Pope Francis says that the Catholic Church is obsessed with what he calls, small-minded rules. His recent published remarks are stirring-up debate.

The Pope says he's working to change the perception and direction of the Catholic Church.

He says that the church is too focused on issues like abortion, gays and birth control.

Pope Francis believes there should be an emphasis on compassion over condemnation.

"The catholic liturgy is a very good one," opines one Philadelphian," but their social view of things is not very good, so if they improve that, they would be THE CHURCH."

"It's now the future, you have to change with the times," agrees another.

"I agree because you have to love everybody, EVERYONE IS ONE," says a third.

Some bishops have already spoken out against the pontiff.
