LIVONIA, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates there are more than 723,368 military veterans in the state of Michigan and experts believe a majority of those vets are not aware of the benefits which are available to them.

Today The Canton Community Foundation and Legal Help for Veterans sponsored the 4th Annual Veterans' Summit at Laurel Manor. The free event was open to veterans of all branches of the military along with their family and friends, providing information about a wide range of topics including health care, pension, disabilities, burial and VA eligibility.

The Veterans were also given an opportunity to meet one-on-one with VA representatives and other advocates to help them solve their specific problems.
