Caught On Tape: Two Gunmen In Manayunk Shooting

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Surveillance video shows the scene early Sunday morning in Manayunk as two suspects crossed Cresson Street near Grape Street with guns out and headed to an alley way where they opened fire on two men who had just left a local club.

"These guys are both armed with semi-automatic handguns you can see them in the video, they both fire," said Lt. George McClay of Northwest Detectives.

The armed confrontation left one victim seriously wounded, the other shot in the arm. Lt. McClay says the suspects may have been lying in wait for the two victims after some words were exchanged inside the nightclub.

"They were going after these two guys. This wasn't a random act. They went after these guys for this argument," McClay said. "The complainant who's shot was yelling at one of the guys who was singing and apparently disrespected him."

The shooting occurred right as bars and nightclubs along Main Street were letting out for the night. People here are concerned about gun play on these streets.

"Of course anyone would be concerned," said Mario Camarote, who works in Manayunk. "I would think it's people not from the area, generally it's a pretty safe area."

"This is a popular area and we can't have this kind of conduct going on by these animals getting out of cars and just firing because someone yells at them and doesn't like what they said," McClay told Fox 29.

The video also shows the gunmen running for the scene. Police believe they got into a getaway car that can be seen on tape racing away from the shooting.

"They escape in a what appears to be a red older model Pontiac or we think it's a Camaro Iroc with two tone paint on it," McClay explained.

Police looking for that older model Chevy Iroc Camaro or a Pontiac Firebird. Police say half a dozen shots were fired. If you recognize these guys we urge you to call Northwest Detectives.
