SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

Scottsdale Police have announced an arrest in an alleged sexual assault case from over the weekend.

Authorities say a 22-year-old woman was attacked inside her apartment on Saturday at about 2:30 a.m., in the area of 78th Street and Camelback.

He allegedly crept into her apartment when she was in the process of bringing something into her bedroom, before she was able to lock the door.

The suspect got away, running out the patio door.

"We have been actively investigating the crime and were able to forensically link the suspect to the incident yesterday. Our detectives began looking for the 23-year-old male suspect, who was eventually located in Tempe at 8:30pm yesterday. He was arrested without incident," stated Sgt. Mark Clark.

He has been identified as Daryl Donovan Cole, Jr., of Scottsdale. He has past arrests including aggravated robbery, but he has no history of sexual offenses.

Sgt. Clark says Cole admitted to being in the area at the time, but denied committing the sexual assault.

He's now facing sexual assault, kidnapping and burglary charges. Police say that he lives about a half mile away from the scene of the crime, with his grandmother.
