Student sent home because of dreadlocks

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Okla. -

A straight-A student was sent home from a Tulsa school because of her hair.

Tiana Parker was sent home from Deborah Brown Community School because school officials say she has dreadlocks.

School policy prohibits dreads, afros, Mohawks and other styles it calls "unacceptable."

Tiana's dad says he wasn't aware his daughter's hair would be an issue.

The school says it sticks by its policy because it believes certain hairstyles are a distraction.
