Landmark Same-Sex Marriage Hearing Set To Begin In Harrisburg

Posted: Updated:
NORRISTOWN, Pa. -

Montgomery county has been issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples for two months now.

On Wednesday, the landmark issue heads to court in Harrisburg.

A hearing is set in the state's capital.

Gov. Tom Corbett wants to stop Montgomery County from giving-out same-sex marriage licenses.

Pennsylvania doesn't allow civil unions or gay marriage.

But the county's register of wills has already issued more than 160 licenses.

Corbett's lawyers say the case is about a local official ignoring state law.

The court hearing is scheduled to get under way this morning.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley has more details in this live report from Montco to preview Wednesday's hearing.
