Thousands of pets turn up missing every year. And if you lose your cat or dog, it can be difficult to find them. But now -- Maricopa County Animal Care and Control has a new site that can help.
"They're stray so we're waiting to see what they tell us."
Dorothy Felix found this pooch in her neighborhood Tuesday morning. He's lost so she brought him into the county to try and find his owner.
"I have my dogs and can't do nothing about it, that's why we're bringing them in," said Felix.
Matt Schultz also brought a dog in – two in fact.
"I found them a little further on Baseline and 51st on the left hand side so I'm turning them in."
A new website may help these pooches find their homes.
"If you have lost their dog you can go to this website and you can search your address or intersection," says Melissa Gable, MCACC.
This is going to be a crucial service for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. Last year they saw about 31,000 strays -- so maybe this service will help connect the animals with their owners.
"It pulls up a map of the valley and the map will highlight different dots or triangles. Dots are dogs, triangles are cats and you can click on a dog and it will pop open a window with more information on that animal that has come to the shelter."
"I hope they can get them a good home," says Felix.
A good home for the thousands who needs help.
