Puppies found in garbage bag dumped on roadside

Posted: Updated:
TONOPAH, Ariz. -

Nine puppies and their mother, shoved into a garbage bag and left for dead, abandoned on the side of the road.

Thankfully a group of teens found the dogs struggling for air inside those bags and helped rescue them. Those teens saw someone drive by and dump a garage bag out of their car. They went to see what was in the bag and they found the puppies inside.

Now, a valley group is nursing those puppies back to health in order to find them a new home.

"I think you really have to have a sick mind to do that, I can't ever imagine doing that," says Debbie Yarbrough of Animal Rescue Friends.

The nine lab-mix puppies, their mom, and a Chihuahua were all found stuffed inside that garage bag in the desert near Tonopah. The teens who rescued them called Animal Rescue Friends for help.

"We took care of getting them bathed and started on the vetting process with them with shots today and deworming."

Volunteers with Animal Rescue Friends are now nursing the puppies back to health. They're staying with a foster family but each one needs a forever home.

"Just to have people step up and open their hearts and their homes to the animals and find them new homes," says Yarbrough, "We're really humbled by all the attention to this."

Left for dead on the side of the road, these little guys and gals couldn't be more excited to have a second chance at life.

All 11 dogs need a new home.
