ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say two people are recovering from injuries suffered in a small explosion in a can recycling machine they were using at a central New York supermarket.
The Ithaca Police Department tells local media outlets that two adults were using a recycling machine in the lobby of a Wegmans supermarket shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday when the explosion occurred.
Both people were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries to the upper torso and hands.
Police say the store didn't close but customers were diverted away from the scene of the explosion to another entrance.
Police say they're looking into what caused the explosion.
