Israel Sanchez: Jailed In Babysitting Molestation Case

Posted: Updated:

The way police tell it Israel Sanchez's mom does neighborhood babysitting at her home. He lives there with her. He's 47. Now, he's staying in a cell in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Earlier this week Dept. of Homeland Security investigators searched Sanchez's apartment in the 13,900 block of Foothill Blvd in Sylmar. They seized computers and cameras related to suspected child pornography. The investigation was related to internet transmissions of child pornography, which is a federal crime. Detectives from LAPD's Mission Police Station became involved when the federal agents discovered evidence of at least two children being molested directly by Sanchez. Police have identified those two. They say the girls are 18 months and 10 years old. There are four other in a video they are trying to identify who are between the ages of 2 and 10. Those four are also girls. Lt. Paul Vernon says "We believe these children were clients of Sanchez's mother, who babysat for families in the neighborhood. What's more, we discovered Sanchez's room was rigged with cameras to record the molestation for distribution over the internet."

Now, police would like your help in identifying those children in the video. Anonymous tips can be called into Crimestoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477), or by texting 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone. All text messages should begin with the letters "LAPD." Online tips may be placed at LAPDOnline.org.
