Phoenix police: Officers fatally shoot wanted man

Updated:
PHOENIX -
Phoenix police say a man wanted in a domestic violence case is dead after being shot by officers because they believed he had pinned an officer in between two vehicles.

Sgt. Trent Crump says police received a tip Wednesday night that 37-year-old Raymond P. Majors, a suspect in an aggravated assault, was at a trailer park near I-17 and Indian School Road.

According to police, detectives were told Majors was armed would either kill himself or shoot it out with the officers if approached.

When officers arrived, Majors was standing outside of a U-Haul truck, talking on the phone.

Police say he then jumped into the cab of the truck and suddenly accelerated into reverse.

According to police, they told Majors to stop and warned him that an officer was behind the U-Haul.

Majors allegedly ignored their commands and rammed into the front end of an unmarked police car, pushing it almost a car length away.

Police say two officers believed Majors had pinned an officer in between the vehicles and began to shoot at the suspect.

Phoenix firefighters declared him dead at the scene.

Crump says one officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.
