Shower visible from street is talk of Brooklyn

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

An under-construction townhouse in Brooklyn that has a glass shower that is visible from the street has the neighborhood abuzz.

The townhouse is in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn.

For now when you look closely on the second floor you can see the shower on the front of the building. That exposure left some neighbors wondering just what the homeowners had in mind.

But any concerns that the residents planned to shower in the nude for all to see appear to be untrue.

owner James Cavoli sent a statement to Fox 5 saying: "I have no comment other than to say that we are mildly fascinated that our neighbors have taken an interest in a bathroom that has never been used and is still under construction, and can only hope they will be as friendly when installation of the glass privacy coverings are complete."

Cavoli sent renderings of the finished unit that do show the bathroom windows obscured.

Cavoli even posted a letter to his neighbors in a window of his house saying he "regrets" that the design may have alarmed anyone.

"We are dismayed and a bit heart sick at the attention our half-finished home created," the note reads in part. It goes on to say that the family expects to live on the block with their children for years to come.

Cavoli wrote: "We look forward to a day when we know our neighbor well enough to discuss any concerns over coffee, and not in the newspapers and on gossip sites on the Internet."

Making New York City more energy efficient

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
