Alex Band, the lead singer of the rock band The Calling, says he was abducted by two men and beaten over the weekend in Lapeer County.

The 32-year-old Band tells Lapeer City police he was walking on West Street near S. Main Street between 3-4 a.m. Sunday when a blue minivan pulled up next to him. Band says two men abducted, assaulted and robbed him before dropping him off at a different location.

TMZ says Band was discovered a short time later by manager David Strautham. "He's bleeding all over the place and I found him on the side of the road," said Strautham in a 911 call obtained by the celebrity gossip web site.

Band was taken to McLaren - Lapeer Region Emergency Center where he was treated and released.

The group had performed earlier in the evening at the Lapeer Days Festival, according to the festival's website.

Lapeer Sgt. Craig Gormley says the incident remains under investigation.

'The Calling' first hit the charts in June 2001 with the song "Wherever You Will Go," which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band recently reunited after an eight-year hiatus, according to Extra TV.
