2 arrested after stabbing at Scottsdale motel

Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

Police say a man was critically stabbed during a bad heroin deal at a motel near Camelback Road and 68th Street on Wednesday night.

21-year-old Athena C. Himmel called police from a Motel 6 saying she had been assaulted.

Himmel told police 25-year-old Chris Jones forced his way into her room, demanded money and assaulted her. Jones then allegedly began fighting with 23-year-old Carlos Guzman, who was in the room with Himmel.

Police say the fighting escalated until Guzman stabbed Jones multiple times in the abdomen. Jones got away from the hotel with injuries.

Jones was found a few blocks away after a resident saw him injured in their front yard and Guzman was found near the hotel room.

Police say Guzman admitted to stabbing Jones and was arrested for aggravated assault and drug offenses.

According to officers, they believe both Guzman and Himmel were dealing heroin out of the room and that Jones went to the room to collect money related to a drug deal.

Himmel was arrested for multiple drug related charges.
