Only four NFL franchises are valued at less than the Detroit Lions, according to Forbes Magazine.

In its annual list of the football's most valuable teams, the Lions rank No. 28 in the league at a value of $900 million. Only the St. Louis Rams ($875M), Buffalo Bills ($870M), Jacksonville Jaguars ($840M) and Oakland Raiders ($825M) rank lower.

According to the report, Detroit was the only team in the league to lose money in 2012. Despite a revenue of $248 million, the team's operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) loss totaled $3.5 million.

Owner Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys top the list with a value of $2.3 billion. In fact, Forbes says 23 of the NFL's 30 franchise are valued at over $1 billion. Much of the Jones' revenue comes from sponsorship deals at Cowboys Stadium and the distribution of their own merchandise, the only team in the league to do so.

Forbes' Top 10:
1. Dallas Cowboys
2. New England Patriots
3. Washington Redskins
4. New York Giants
5. Houston Texans
6. New York Jets
7. Philadelphia Eagles
8. Chicago Bears
9. Baltimore Ravens
10. San Francisco 49ers
