Two 18-year-old suspects charged in the murder and robbery of a Clayton County teenager were expected back in court for a bond hearing Friday morning. This was continued to August 20.
On July 25, officers arrested Gilberto Gomez and Sergio Alvear, according to the Clayton County Police Department. Police say Gomez pulled the trigger that ended 13-year-old Steven Galindo Diaz' life.
The reason: the murder suspects allegedly wanted the Lamborghini-style, or "butterfly," doors on his sister Samaria Diaz' large pick-up truck.
"It was the type of vehicle that had Lamborghini doors, some call them butterfly doors. They're the special type of doors that come on the Lamborghini vehicles. And, that's what they saw and what alerted their attention to that particular vehicle," Clayton County Police Major Johnny Robinson said.
Prior to the shooting, Gomez only had traffic violations as priors. Now, both are charged with ending the life of a young boy, who was just helping his sister with her truck right outside of the family's home on Sylvia Drive last Monday night.
Diaz did in his sister's arms.
