Weiner scandal is fodder for tabloids, comedians, ad campaigns

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

From the Daily News to the New York Post to AM New York and the Post again, there was no shortage of fodder for the tabloids this week.

Now even the New Yorker is jumping on the Weiner joke-wagon with a cover illustration of the mayoral candidate sexting while straddling the Empire State Building as news choppers hover around.

Companies are turning the scandal into marketing gimmicks, like Spirit Airlines which this week announced the Weiner Rises Again promo featuring Carlos Danger with discounts on flights to Cancun and Cabo.

But while the headline writers and ad guys are having a field day, the comedians couldn't ask for better subject matter. The late night guys were all over it this week. And over at the Comic Strip on Second Avenue, we caught up with Pete Lee of VH-1's Best Week Ever.

At this point even Weiner's getting in on the joke. He made a humorous comment when he was asked if he preferred twitter or Facebook.
