Police say a 41-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for threatening to burn his parents' house down if they didn't give him money.

According to Prescott Police, Michael W. Hill made several phone calls to his elderly parents asking for $2,000 so that he could leave Prescott.

He allegedly intimidated them with threats both on the phone and in person.

Hill's parents tell police their son has history with law enforcement and they believe he is capable of carrying out his threats.

Police say Hill served time in Arizona Department of Corrections in 2010.

Officers found Hill at a home on Cougar Trail and he was taken into custody.

He was booked into Yavapai County Jail for felony extortion, threats and intimidation per domestic violence and use of telephone to threaten and harass per domestic violence.
