Rescuers Search For 2 Teens Who Jumped Into Neshaminy Creek

BENSALEM, Pa. -

There was a massive search Tuesday night in Bucks County after three teens went into the swollen waters of the Neshaminy Creek and only one returned.

Officials say the boys jumped into the water at the Neshaminy Falls train station around 10:45 p.m.

Two teens – one 18-years-old, the other 19 from Bensalem – did not get out of the water.

Search crews have suspended the search until daylight.

Bensalem Township Director of Public Safety Fred Harran said of the teen who was found, "He was on scene telling us what had happened, and he had described that he had struggled to get out, and he saw one of the other gentlemen struggling to get out. And when he got out, they did not."

"I believe they have been in the creek before, but it only takes one bad time for this creek to get the best of you and to get caught up in the swells, Harran added. "… When you see raging water like that – still water is dangerous in these creeks, but raging water is exceptionally dangerous. And you just shouldn't go in. There's just nothing good that can come from it."

"Once daylight, we'll see where we are and decide what resources to re-engage. What we have confirmed is we have special water rescue unit that will be back around 7:30 in the morning to re-engage the rescue scene," Harran added.

People in the area have reported seeing kids running through the neighborhoods.

Officials say they are checking out those tips as well.
