Posted: Updated:

Ventura County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call just before 9 pm Monday night and found Amanda Bynes standing next to a burning gas can. Why the 27-year-old actresses may have picked a Thousand Oaks driveway to torch is unclear. The homeowner says she had never met Bynes.

Bynes was not physically hurt but she was hospitalized for a 5150 or involuntary psychiatric hold.  The troubled actress has made recent headlines for bizarre behavior, including an arrest in NYC for allegedly throwing a bong out of a 36th floor apartment window

Bynes will undergo a mental evaluation for 72 hours and doctors could decide to keep her hospitalized for 14 more days .

There are reports Bynes' parents are consulting with lawyers in hopes of getting a conservatorship for their daughter to force her into treatment.
