Too hot for a walk outside? Try mall walking instead

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

If you're feeling like it's too hot to go for a walk outside, you might want to go shopping.

According to a new study, British women burn as many as 15,000 calories a year while indulging in retail therapy. The survey showed that when shopping, British women walk on average 180 miles a year.

That's the equivalent of seven marathons.

However, the survey also found nearly a third of British women snacked on things like chips, chocolate and cookies while spending, negating some of shopping's fitness-boosting effects.
