San Diego Passes Pet Store Ban On Selling Dogs, Cats

Earlier this week, San Diego City Council voted to ban the retail sale of dogs, cats and rabbits in pet stores.

All pet retailers must now get their puppies, kittens and rabbits from animal shelters, humane societies or rescue groups.

Stores have 30 days to change the way they do business.

This measure was passed as a way to avoid obtaining and selling animals from puppy mills.

Several other cities around the country have adopted similar legislation.
