Homeland Security Hearing Held In Congress Today

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, D.C. -

On Capitol Hill, lawmakers are putting past terror attacks and attempts under the microscope, in hopes of learning from them.

Congress listened to testimony on the preparedness for and response to the April 15th Boston Marathon Attack. The hearing also focused on cases where signs were missed, or where information wasn't shared between federal and local agencies.

Federal officials at the hearing say it's also important to highlight the positives, and consider all the plots against our country that didn't succeed.

Richard Serino, deputy administrator of FEMA says, "We can take solace that collective approach and the years of planning we did as a nation on the local, state and federal level helped first responders on the ground that day save lives."

The FBI was a no-show at today's house homeland security hearing. The absence angered some lawmakers, who accused them of stonewalling.
