Have you ever watched "So You Think You Can Dance" and wished you could move like a pro?
There's no doubt about it, SYTYCD contestants can dance.
If watching them has left you itching to pirouette, leap or stomp, you're in luck.
Abby Bella Dance Studio is a school that offers fun, casual dance classes for adults.
Owner Teresa Paul Daie says the concept came to her as a vision after having surgery six years ago.
"When I came out, this idea popped in my head for a dance studio fully formed. It was ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. Things you took as a child, but just for adults," said Paul Daie.
A former CPA, Paul Daie says she'd always loved to dance.
She'd dabbled in ballet as a kid and discoed every night in college.
She quickly found her studio attracted women just like her.
"There were a lot of girls who had grown up dancing from the time they were maybe 3, 4-years-old. They danced 'til they got into high school or college, after that there was no where else for them to go. I'm getting those girls now," said Paul Daie.
That's not to say that newbies should stay on the couch.
Paul Daie say more experienced dancers are there to guide those with two left feet.
The welcoming vibe is also a draw for women going through a major life change.
"Kids have moved away from home, divorce, loss of a spouse, something like that, but some kind of transition and they come in just to get happy and you can't feel bad when you're dancing," said Paul Daie.
Abby Bella's four locations offer everything from ballet, tap and jazz to hip hop, burlesque and cardio strip tease.
Paul Daie says dance shows like SYTYCD have definitely driven a new crop of students to her door.
'They watch them and get inspired and say, 'I want to try that, that looks like something that's fun'," said Paul Daie.
But what if you think you really can't dance?
Paul Daie says anybody can dance and suggests a zumba class to get you started.
"You're learning merengue and you're learning salsa and you're learning cumbia and you're learning all these dances and some hip hop and it just--it happens, you get it," said Paul Daie.
If it doesn't click right away, you can always just groove like Paul Daie does.
