PAMPLONA, Spain -

A local DJ here in Phoenix is absent from the air after an injury. But this is no ordinary injury. Brad Booker was running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain Monday when he broke his leg in three places.

We were able to Skype with the morning Camel Country DJ in his hospital bed in Spain.

The running of the bulls draws huge crowds this time of year to Pamplona, Spain for the annual event. And every year we hear of injuries.

This is just one more of those stories from someone right here from the valley.

If you're a country music fan, you've probably heard him on the radio. Brad Booker is a morning DJ on Camel Country 107.9. But you may not be hearing him for a while now.

Making the front page of the Pamplona paper today -- but not for a good reason. Booker broke his leg while attempting to run with the bulls.

"A guy went down right in front of me I went down right on top of him and ended up fracturing my leg in three places," Booker explains.

"It's a big deal whenever someone is injured in the bull run but even more so when it's an Americano so yeah -- kind of a big deal."

For now, Booker is holed up in a Spanish hospital recovering.

"The people of Spain could not be nicer and more gracious."

Meanwhile, here at home, he is getting some ribbing from his co-workers for not getting injured by a bull -- but rather a fellow runner.

"So I chose not to run on Sunday because it's the most dangerous day and I chose a safer day and we all see how that worked out for me!"

Booker, believe it or not, says he is considering running again next year.

"I guess if you're going to go out and break a bone it's a great story to have," he says. "I was never scared to run but I think I'll be a little bit more reluctant the second time around."

At this time, he is not sure whether he will be staying in Spain to get surgery or flying home.

Ironically enough, Brad Booker says they have some of the best orthopedic surgeons in the world right there in Pamplona.
