MT. CLEMENS, Mich. (WJBK) -

Two Warren men learn their punishment for the brutal attack that nearly killed a pregnant woman.

Jamal Rogers and Antonio Mathis will both spend life in prison with the possibility of parole following their conviction on attempted murder and conspiracy charges in May of 2012.

Authorities say the men tied up Latonya Bowman, set her on fire and shot her. Police say, Bowman was Rogers' ex girlfriend and he wanted her dead because she was pregnant with his child. In court on Tuesday, the judge had a message for Rogers.

"Even though you did not light the match or pull the trigger, you orchestrated perhaps one of the most heinous crimes imaginable. You diabolically and in cold blood, plotted, schemed and arranged the murder of an unborn child and the girlfriend and mother of your unborn child. It is difficult for anyone to fathom the depth and breadth of your warped deviant mind. I can assure society that they won't have to worry about your evil self for a long, long time" the judge said.

Rogers chose not to speak in court, today. But, Antonio Mathis did say something to both the judge and the woman he tried to kill, "I feel the same pain you feel. I mean I wasn't shot physically, I wasn't' set on fire physically, but we were both betrayed by someone we loved and don't know why." And to the judge Mathis said, "I just ask you not to throw the book at me."

Bowman, who later gave birth to a healthy baby boy, testified about the horrifying attack during the trial.
