Animal Rescue Believes Dog May Have Been Stolen

Posted: Updated:

A local animal rescue is asking for the public's help to identify a dog that it believes may have been stolen from a prior owner.

The LaMancha Animal Rescue says the Great Pyrenees, which is probably between the ages of 3 and 5, has lots of peach coloring and was released by a "hoarder" in Chester County.

She has since been given the name "Mercedes."

Dru Campbell, the vice president of the rescue group based in Unionville, Centre County, stated in a Facebook post, "We think there is a good chance she was stolen, because unlike the other dogs we received from them."

He added that "she is in immaculate condition, well groomed, not a mat on her. She is housetrained, and she loves to go in the car, she has jumped into several people's cars here; it seems that she is looking to go home."

LaMancha – which identifies itself as "no-kill," rescuing horses, many dog breeds and mixes, cats, goats, and other animals – scanned Mercedes for a chip, but there was none.

Campbell says the Pyr could have come from somewhere far away and asked that the information be shared far and wide.

If you have any information about Mercedes, contact LaMancha Animal Rescue by email at lamancharescue@comcast.net, by mail at P.O. Box 656, Unionville, Pa. 19375, visit the rescue's website, or comment in its Facebook group.
