On Monday night, the Osseo City Council will vote on plans to build a new gun range -- but not everyone is on board.
Supporters argue the new range will attract both visitors and money to the small suburb, which is located between Maple Grove and Brooklyn Park; however, opponents say the location is all wrong.

The proposed site is a vacant lot that sits behind some businesses on Main Street, but a row of homes sit just across the street and two schools are just a short walk away.
Yet, some city leaders are concerned about the number of businesses leaving the area as big box stores pop up in nearby communities. They argue the range will bring in $35,000-$50,000 in tax revenues and could provide an economic shot in the arm.
The Maple Grove-based developer hopes to have the 17,000-square-foot site built and open by the end of the year. The plans include retail space, a gunsmith, firearm repair shop, and a 20-lane gun range.
A public hearing on the proposal will be held before the vote takes place.
