Full Doce Fire containment eyed

Posted: Updated:

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) -- Fire officials say crews hope to have a wildfire near Prescott fully contained in a day.

Officials said late Monday that the 10.5-square-mile Doce Fire in the Prescott National Forest was around 70 percent contained.

The blaze cost about $6 million to fight and forced hundreds of residential evacuations, which have since been lifted.

The fire began June 18 and has charred dense brush and timber in the Granite Mountain Wilderness.

Investigators say the Doce Fire was human-caused, but haven't determined the exact source yet.

Granite Basin Road remained closed to the public and can only be accessed by residents with valid identification.
