NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

A robber broke into a home in Millburn, N.J., and attacked a woman while her 3-year-old daughter watched.

A camera on a baby monitor captured the brutal assault.

Police said the man broke down a door to get into the house. Once inside, he repeatedly punched and kicked the woman. He also threw the woman down a flight of stairs.

"I knew that if I started to scream my daughter would too and I was afraid he would shoot at her. I took it and I didn't cry the entire time," the unnamed victim told News 12. "They need to help us get him off the street. He's not just a burglar, he's violent."

She suffered a concussion and was hospitalized before being released, according to News 12.

The attacker is described by police as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 220 pounds, with a salt-and-pepper beard. He stole jewelry from the home, according to police.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Millburn Police at 973-564-7001. You can also call the Essex County Sheriff's Crime Stoppers hot line at (973) 877-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is holding its monthly board meeting, two days after it heard from a panel on what it needs to do to improve its accountability and efficiency and restore public trust.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey could rescind a $1-a-year lease for a park-and-ride lot near the Lincoln Tunnel. The agency's chief of real estate and development told a committee Wednesday that it should change a deal made in 2012. Published reports have alleged that former Port Authority chairman David Samson voted to approve the lease even though his law firm did business with New Jersey Transit, which operates the park-and-ride lot.

As he tried to assist in the delivery of a newborn, Manchester Officer Joseph Fastige noticed the umbilical cord was wrapped around the child’s neck. He was able to get his fingers around the cord and safely unwrapped it. That quick-thinking - and perhaps life-saving - move was one of several Manchester officers made when they delivered a newborn child last week.
