Health & Fitness Event showcased at Birmingham Farmers Market

Posted: Updated:
BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Birmingham Farmers Market is set to become an even healthier place to be on Sunday, June 23, where the fourth annual Health & Fitness Event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature a wide variety of vendors who will provide attendees with information about how to improve their health.

This year special health and fitness vendors will offer: complimentary posture checks, discounted pricing opportunities, blood pressure screenings, and healthy food samples among other things.

Giveaways will include: toothbrushes, sun screen, water bottles, and more. A children's book signing and reading will be held by local author Shivani Sharma, and a dance demonstration by Dance City will take place during the event.

"As awareness and emphasis on improving health increases, the popularity of the Health & Fitness Event does also," said PSD executive director John Heiney. "This event is designed to help shoppers become healthier not only with fresh produce, but also with wellness representatives from local businesses all in one place."

The market is located in Public Parking Lot 6 (north of Harmon on the east side of North Old Woodward, across from Booth Park). Attendees enjoy a hometown experience that's fun for all ages, with fresh prepared foods, live music, a children's craft area and more.

Throughout the summer more than 70 booths will feature a diverse array of locally and regionally grown produce including organic vegetables, fruits, flowers and garden plants, plus baked goods and hand-crafted items.

It's not just the styles that have changed with weddings over the years -- it's also the technology. Disposable cameras used to be the norm, but now there's an even simpler way for the bride and groom to get some candid photos of their special day.
